Age 79, died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was born March 5, 1932, the son of Raymond and Mildred Stoll (who survives him at the age of 103), and grew up in Birmingham, Michigan. Neil worked for the Detroit Edison Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1989.

Neil StollAn avid collector of antique tools led to his next career as an antique dealer. He was an expert in fine woodworking pieces and his collection was a great source of joy for him. He is a member of the Mid-West Tool Collectors Association among other tool collectors groups. In his earlier years he was actively involved in raising and showing West Highland White Terriers and is a lifelong member of the Ann Arbor Kennel Club.

On May 29, 1950 he married Barbara Joyce Everett, also of Birmingham, Michigan, and they shared 61 years of life, love and hobbies together. Other survivors besides his wife and mother are daughters Deborah of Brooklyn, Cynthia (Robert) of Whitmore Lake, and Vicky (Brit) of Ann Arbor; brother Richard (Gun) of Highland Park; five grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren, Neil, Megan, and Steven; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Neil Stoll in 1990.

Neil was a man who took great pride in all he did and proved to be a self reliant and determined person in everything he tackled. His children don’t recall ever seeing a repairman or contractor at their home as their dad could ‘do everything’. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
