of Munith, age 78, died  Thursday, December 25, 2014 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was born July 13, 1936 in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of Lawrence & Gladys (Bailey) Farley.

Norm has resided in Chelsea for 50 years, coming from Kentucky.  He served in the Navy on a mine sweeper from 1953-57, and in the US Air Force as an Airman First Class from 1958-62.  He worked for  Federal Screw Works from 1964, retiring in 1998. Norm was the financial secretary for UAW 437.  After a 3-month retirement, he went to work for Village Motor Sales in Chelsea, where he worked full-time until his death.  Norm was a member of the American Legion and was a life member of the Free Masons in Kentucky.  He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports, and Norm never met a stranger.

 He married Judy A. Asher in Harlan, KY on May 16, 1964 and she preceded him in death on May 14, 1990. On April 6, 1995, he married Beverly A. (Burmis) Brown, and she survives. Other survivors include one son Brian Farley of Grass Lake, two daughters Anita (Bryan) Herter of Chelsea and Felicia Couchman of Chelsea; three grandchildren, Austin Herter, Kyle & Carson Farley; three step-children, Cindy, Jim, and Tim Brown;  9 step-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (Orville) Harris of Chelsea and Phyllis (Ronald) Venable of Speedwell, TN; one sister-in-law, Maxine Asher of Cumberland Gap, TN; several nieces and nephews; a very close cousin, Les Williams; and several close family friend and several acquaintances.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-daughter, Lori; and a special cousin, Don Farley.

   Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, 1:00 pm at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Rev. Jeff Crowder officiating.  Burial followed at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea. The family received friends Sunday 1-5 pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Cascades Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
