Agnes C. Hughes, died peacefully with her family at her side on June 12, 2014 at the age of 89. She was born on February 14, 1925 to Charles Anthony and Theresa Pearl (Mullhall) Pine in Detroit, MI. 

Agnes was a former member of All Saints Episcopal Church of East Lansing. She was a mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, bingo, and spending time with her friends and family.

Agnes married Cebert (Cy) Hughes on May 29, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio and recently celebrated seventy two years of marriage. Along with Cebert, she is survived by two sons, Michael Stephen (Sheila) Hughes of East Lansing; Jeffery Lee (Lowene) Hughes of Grass Lake; a daughter, Carol Ann (William) Young of Grass Lake; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Van Buren of East Lansing, Lillian (Donald) Weber of Saline, Shirley (William) Matt of Germfask, MI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James Pine, Edward Pine; and two sisters, Margaret King and Mary Elizabeth Pine.

The family would like to thank the management and staff at the Timber Ridge Senior Assisted Living Facility in East Lansing, MI for the compassionate services they provided Agnes while a resident there over the past three years. In addition, they would like to thank Dr. Harold Roth and also the Hartland Hospice Agency for their generous time and wonderful care, especially over the past few months.

A memorial service was held on June 16, at the Comfort Inn Conference Center in Chelsea, MI with the Rev. Stephen Ezop officiating. The family received friends at 11:00 AM with a memorial service that followed shortly thereafter. A memorial garden named in honor of Agnes C. Hughes will be constructed at Timber Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to that cause may be made to the Timber Ridge Senior Assisted Living Facility, 16260 Park Lake Drive, E. Lansing, MI  48823.
