of Chelsea, Michigan, age 78, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at his home. He was born April 24, 1934 in Lyndon Township, the son of Carroll E. and Loretta (Slane) Clark.

Virgil graduated from Chelsea High School with the class of 1953. He worked at Rockwell International in Chelsea. Later he owned Virgil Clark Construction.

On November 19,1966, Virgil married Gail Lynn Tengman in Grass Lake, and she survives.  Other survivors include their two sons, Clayton (Jessica) Clark of Gregory, and James (Kristin) Clark of Stockbridge; children from his previous marriage, Phyllis Vasas of Jackson, Richard Clark of Chelsea, Elizabeth Turner of Whitmore Lake, Anthony (Paula) Clark of Chelsea; three brothers, Carroll (Linda) Clark Jr., Myron (Ruby) Clark, and Fred Clark; a brother-in-law, Ray Peebles; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister,  Donna Jean Peebles.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Pastor Jeff Howard officiating.  A private burial took place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea. The family received friends Monday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
