of Ann Arbor, age 89, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born August 18, 1923 in Eschwege, Germany, the son of Otto & Antonie (Martin) Peyser.

John moved to the United States in 1936, and served in Japan in the US Army during World War II.  He graduated from Wayne State University with a  degree in Pharmaceutical Science.  John Photo of John Peyserworked as a pharmacist at St. Joseph Mercy in Hamtramck. He loved music, nature, canoeing, hiking, painting, and was a voracious reader.  He traveled throughout the world throughout his lifetime.   He enjoyed living in downtown Ann Arbor for the last 20 years, and attended many lectures, especially enjoying the ones about philosophy and science research.  He enjoyed many live classical music performances there.

Survivors include a son, Mike (Tina) Peyser of Hoffman Estates, IL; three daughters, Lisa (Dave Buckley) Peyser of Waterford, Ruth (Curt) Walker of Rochester Hills, Anita (Pete) Kapelke of Chelsea; a sister Gabrielle (Hellmuth) Kornmueller of Sault Ste Marie; 7 grandchildren, Dylan Buckley, Aaron & Elise Walker, Keaton & Kyla Peyser, Hugo & Tess Kapelke.

Memorial contributions may be made to Detroit Symphony Orchestra, 3711 Woodward Avenue
Detroit, MI 48201. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
