of Chelsea, Michigan, formerly of Saline, Southfield, and Detroit, age 87, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Chelsea Retirement Community.

She was born February 1, 1925 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Robert & Bertha (Emmenheiser)  Richter.

Viola attended Highland Park Baptist Church and Grace Bible Church in Ann Arbor. She was a Registered Nurse, working with the Dearborn Public Schools.  She earned a Master's Degree from U of M.

On Aug. 14, 1948, she married James G. Lundell, in Detroit, Michigan. James preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2004.  Survivors include three children, Paul James (Ilene) Lundell of Okemos, Mark Lundell of Chicago, IL, and Esther (Derek) Hitchcock of Jackson, and Jean Hodgson Lundell; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Robert Lundell.

Viola was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother, wife and avid Christian. She devoted her love to the care of others, as a nurse, a Sunday school teacher, and Bible study leader. She attended her children's, and grand children's activities, sport events, and performances. She worked many a summer as a camp nurse for each of her children's summer camp experiences. She had an interest in music and encouraged her children and grandchildren to follow their musical interests.

A memorial service was held Sunday, January 27, 2:00 pm at Chelsea Retirement Community, with Rev. Cathy Rafferty officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Towsley Village Activity Fund. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel.
