Age 96, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Chelsea Retirement Community.  She was born October 24, 1915 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Harry & Ora (Honey) Randall.

 

She was a graduate of Pontiac High School and Kalamazoo College. She received a Masters degree in Secondary English Education from Wayne State University in 1969.  Marian taught in Hazel Park, in Detroit at the James Vernor School, and at Trenton High School in Trenton, Michigan. After retirement she and her husband traveled widely before relocating to South Lyon.  Mrs. Fullenwider was a member of Central Methodist Church in Detroit for many years, where she helped in the Resale shop and was a “Friendly Visitor.” She was chair of the Worship Work Area Committee and member and Secretary of the Administrative Council. More recently she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in South Lyon, where she was a member of the Caring Committee.

Because of her love of books, Mrs. Fullenwider was always interested in public libraries. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the South Lyon Library and of the Salem-South Lyon District Library, and served as Secretary. Marian was very active over the years in the adopt a grandparent program through Chelsea Public Schools, she had at least 8 new “grandchildren.”

In 1939, she married Allan Fullenwider, and he preceded her in death. She is survived by three sons, Malcolm (Susan) of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, Donald (Klotylda) of Plymouth, and Peter (Mary) of Midland; and four grandchildren.

A memorial services were be held Monday, September 10th,10:30 am at Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel, with Cathy Rafferty officiating.  Burial took place at Central United Methodist Church Memorial Gardens in Detroit.  Memorial contributions may be made to the N.O.A.H. Project at Central Methodist Church or Arbor Hospice.  Arrangements by Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea.
