Of Dexter, Michigan, age 89, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born November 25, 1932, in Lake City, MI, the daughter of Eugene Raymond and Evelyn (LaDouceur) Young.

Norma grew up in Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1951. She attended Cleary College, earning a secretarial degree. Norma worked at Cooper Dental for many years before retiring. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Chelsea. Norma enjoyed bowling, and bowled in a ladies league in Dexter. She loved to read, playing on her iPad, antiquing, dancing, and traveling with her sister, Eva. She enjoyed making crafts which she gave to her family.

Norma married Bobby R. Lawrence in Dexter on June 13, 1953. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1996. She is survived by her son, Steven (Janis) Lawrence of Brighton; daughters, Diana Poppenger of Chelsea, Jackie (Michael) Waldyke of Dexter, Barbara (David) Klumpp of Pinckney; brothers, Larry (Sharon) Young of Dexter; sister, Eva Jeffery of Pinckney; 6 grandchildren, Steven, Valerie, Kristina, Jeremy, Matthew, Noah; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Lawrence; son-in-law, James Poppenger; and brother, James Young.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Rev. Dr. Barbara Edema officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn in Dexter. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9-11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
