Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 82, died Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born December 8, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Peter and Mary (Thomas) Kattula.

George served in the Air Force for six years during the Viet Nam war. He was a long-time member of the UAW. He worked many hours as an Assistant Manager at Wrigley's Supermarket and Kmart Supermarket to support his family. George worked at GM for 10 years, and at Chrysler, also for 10 years. George attended the Chelsea First United Methodist Church for many years.

On August 27, 1966, George married Carol Danforth, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Peter (Heidi) Kattula of Grand Rapids, Mike (Katie) Kattula of Springfield, VA; three daughters, Maria (Mark) Julien of Canton, Cathy (Garry) Kattula-Klink of Chelsea, Susan (Seth) Gammon of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren, Mariana, Andrew, Joey, Nick, Chris, Carolyn, Norah, Ayla, Elias, Luke and Isaac; a sister, Georgette Kattula of Dearborn Heights; a brother, Richard (Laureen) Kattula of Manassas VA; and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Agnes Kattula.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Chelsea, with Rev. Joy Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea.  The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel, Friday, July 1, 5-8 pm, and also from 10-11 am at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen Development Office 1820 Mount Elliott St., Detroit, MI 48207.
