of Gregory, age 92, transitioned on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at his home. He was born December 8, 1919 in Monroeville, Alabama, the son of Howard and Sarah (Thames) Snyder.

Charles was a member of the Lewis Chapel AME Methodist Church of Albion, Michigan. Mr. Snyder was a prior resident of Albion, Michigan. After retiring from Hayes-Albion, He served as a County Commissioner for Calhoun County and the Director of Public Housing for the City of Albion. He was a life member of the VFW and of the NAACP.

He married Mercedes Baker on January 10, 1942 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she survives. Other survivors include four (4) daughters, Ruby (Donald) Burch, Ethel (Harold) Simons, Rebecca (Larry) Williams and Roberta (Thomas) Bell, 9 grandchildren, 15 great - grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, brother-in-law Claude Baker and sister-in-law Margaret Haywood and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph, James and Thomas, 3 sisters Mary Alice Abney, Ethel Tate and Marcella Johnson and 1 grandchild Margo Williams.

At the request of Mr. Snyder cremation took place and no funeral or memorial services were planned. Burial of his remains will be at Riverside Cemetery in Albion, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Albion Housing Commission Youth Scholarship Fund in Albion, Michigan.
