of Manchester, MI, age 89, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born March 10, 1923 in Kinston, NC, daughter of Claude F. and Kara M. (Faulkner) Pate.
Marie was a proud member of the Sharon United Methodist Church of Manchester and worked for many years as a private nurse in several hospitals. On November 17, 1947, She married Ishmeal Powers in Delong, SC, he preceded her in death on March 2, 2004. She is survived by her three daughters, Wanda Kay (Greg) Sobran of Ann Arbor, Debra Petoskey of Chelsea, Jean (late Jack) Watson of Tempe, AZ and son, Mike (Thersea) Powers of Manchester; her grandchildren, Nicholas Grothe, Tyler Powers, Alexa and Zachary Petoskey, Dorianne Caswell, Julie (Barry) McBride, Jackie (Travis) Veal, Ji
ll Watson; sister-in-law, Eloise Preston of Ypsilanti; dear friend and caregiver, Irene Nickels of Chelsea; 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Austin Grothe and Jeff Watson. Marie took great pleasure in her faith and loved her farm, she lived a wonderful and fulfilled life and will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel, Thursday 4-8 pm. A service will be held Friday, March 30, 11:00 am at Sharon United Methodist Church, Manchester, with Pastor Pete Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Rowes Corner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice, Huron Valley Humane Society or Sharon United Methodist Church.
